Obituary:

Robert S. "Doc"  Savidge, 87, of Reading, passed away February 24, 2010 at 6:50 am in Golden Living Center.  He was the husband of Elizabeth A. "Betty"(Eckel) Savidge.  Born in Reading, he was the son of the late William L. and Sarah R. (Sherman) Savidge.  Mr. Savidge was a 1940 graduate of Reading High School and attended classes at Albright College and Penn State Extension.  He was a graduate of I.E.S. schools of surveying and civil engineering.  He was a registered Professional Civil Engineer in the State of Pennsylvania.  Mr. Savidge was employed by The Reading Company as a Civil Engineer and retired in 1983 as a Senior Engineer  for ConRail in Philadelphia following 39 years of service.  He was a member of Nativity Lutheran Church in Reading where he served on Church Council for 6 years.  He also served as secretary of College Manor Swimming Association and was an assistant Scout Master.  He was a Master Mason in St. John's Lodge 435 F&AM and received his 50 year honorary pin.  Mr. Savidge enjoyed dancing, swimming, card playing and the theater.  He also enjoyed following and watching Philadelphia Eagles football, March Madness and his grandchildrens sporting events.  In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons, Scott L. Savidge of Quakertown, Bradford P., husband of Wendy R. Savidge of Exeter Township and Brian D., husband of Christine A. Savidge of Media, PA along with his grandchildren, Cortney B., Erica L., Mark C., Travis D., Benjamin M., and Thomas M.

Floral tributes would be appreciated or contributions may be made to Nativity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1501 North 13th Street, Reading, PA 19604 in memory of Mr. Robert S. Savidge.



Visitation:

The family will receive friends at church Saturday 9-10:00 am.

Service from Nativity Lutheran Church, 1501 North 13th Street, Reading Saturday at 10:00 am.  Rev. Eileen M. Smith LeVan officiating. 



Cemetery:

Interment Laureldale Cemetery.
