Alsegg, Lynndyl M. (Lyn) died 9/2/21

Born in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late John M. and Helen N. Mooney. Lyn was raised in Merion, PA. , before moving to Berks County to attend Albright College graduating in 1965. It was there she met her husband Walt who she married in July 1965.

Prior to her retirement from the office of John H. Gallen, MD, Lyn was employed by John Wanamaker Dept. Store and the Bank of Pa. She was an active member of the Berks County Chapter of the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team for 25 years. Lyn was also a board member of the Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Young Woman Program and its predecessor. She and Walt hosted contestants from both programs for over 20 years. Lyn was also the co-founder and President of the Outstanding Young Woman Scholarship Fund, Inc. She hosted Coast Guard Recruits from Cape for Thanksgiving and Christmas for many years.

Lyn spent all her summers at the Jersey shore first in Ocean City, then in Somers Point. It was there she developed her love for beaching, boating, fishing and watching seagulls which she shared with her husband. Lyn and Walt travelled extensively through many foreign countries including a trip to Antarctica. They loved motor homing and visited all 50 states, Mexico and Canada.

In addition to her husband, Lyn is survived by her cousins Phyllis Best of Conn. and Lois Newman of NY. She will be missed by her extended family, Vivien & Gene Aulenbach of Wyomissing, Pa and adopted nephews and nieces, Kirk, Geneva, Marissa, Kayla, Ben of Womelsdorf, Pa and Kyle, Deborah, Katelyn, Cory, and Sarah of Jacksonville, Fl.

A Celebration of Lyn’s Life will be held at Bean Funeral Home, Sinking Spring, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 6:00 PM, the family will receive friends at 5:30 PM for a time of visitation. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Red Cross, Disaster Relief, or the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
