Mary Calvaresi Parsons

August 15, 1927 — June 13, 2022

Wyomissing, PA

Mary Jane Calvaresi Parsons, 94, passed away on June 13.  She was the loving wife of Thomas Livingood Parsons, Sr. who passed away on February 24, 2003  and her first husband Thomas Calvaresi who passed away  on July 20, 1975.   Mary Jane said many times “I was blessed” I had two wonderful husbands.  They were both very very good men.

Born in Shillington on August 15, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Mary Elmira (Ebbert) Body and John M. Body Sr.

Mary Jane was a former member of St. Marks United Church of Christ, and was of the protestant faith.

She was employed by the City of Reading for five years, retiring in 1982 as Chief Clerk of the Tax Administration Bureau.  She also worked for the County of Berks in the Court of Common Pleas, Criminal Division from 1975-1976.  Prior to that, she was employed by Calvaresi Food Markets, Inc. as cashier from 1963-1969, and as their bookkeeper from 1963 to 1975.

Mary Jane’s greatest joy was being a homemaker, wife, and mother and “watching her children grow up to be the loving, caring, understanding,, and responsible adults they now are”.  Mary Jane did a crossword first thing in the morning, and read the Reading Eagle every afternoon.  She was happiest any time she was with her family, especially with her great grandchildren.

Two of her favorite places to visit were the New Jersey and Maryland shores.  When Mary Jane and her husband Tom traveled, their destinations were to any of the beautiful and historic places between Washington DC and Key West, FLA.  She especially loved Williamsburg, VA.  They also visited Canada several times and had owned a home in Naples, FLA

Mary Jane is survived by two loving children, daughter, Cheryl Calvaresi Haring, wife of Paul K. Haring, and Thomas M. Calvaresi, husband of Debra E. (Deeds) Calvaresi.  She is also survived by two granddaughters, Kristin L. (Haring) Caccese, Jan E. (Haring) Bertolet, wife of Joseph Bertolet, and one grandson, Ty M. Calvaresi. There are 8 Great Grandchildren, Andrew M., Abigail L, Samuel C., and Gino T., Caccese, Brady P., Kolby K., Connor M. Bertolet, and Luca M. Calvaresi.

She is survived by one brother, Solon P. Body.

She was predeceased by a beloved son, Allessandro “Alex” Calvaresi II who passed away on October 18, 1988.
