Matthew Carroll Miller, 51, of Exeter Township, went to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by family and friends, on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 10:33 pm at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia. He was the husband of Tracey E. (Doman) Miller. Born in Pottstown, Mr. Miller was the son of the late Raymond and Patricia (Pearson) Miller. In addition to his wife, Mr. Miller is survived by his children Jacob Cole Miller and Grace Elizabeth Miller both at home. He is also survived by his siblings Keith C. Miller, husband of Shari Miller of Lancaster; Raymond A. Miller, husband of Peggy Miller of Pottstown; James C. Miller, husband of Kristine Miller of Reading; Curtis Lee Miller, husband of Jeané Miller of Lancaster and was preceded in death by brothers Mitchal Miller and Scott Allen Miller.
Matt was a devout family man, a passionate follower of Christ and a genuine friend to all who crossed his path. Soon after graduating high school he met the love of his life, Tracey, while working at the Fox Movie Theater in Coventry. Their first date was on December 18, 1989 which began 33 years together, 27 of them happily married. Matt was a hands-on father to Jake and Grace, staying home to raise them full-time for six years. Watching them grow into kind and compassionate young adults was his greatest joy.
Matt was a proud graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School. He went on to study secondary education at Penn State University where he joined Pi Lambda Phi fraternity. Matt was a true Blue & White Nittany Lion fan. He continued with his Penn State education online, taking classes in business & management. Matt’s early career included roles at Xerox and Penske. Once Grace moved on to preschool, Matt began his 16 year career with Morgan Corporation, holding several positions, including his most recent as Liftgate Program Manager.
Matt had an infectious laugh that is not easily forgotten. Matt was the true definition of a friend. He supported and uplifted those around him, and celebrated their successes with a sincere heart. Matt loved socializing and was a member of numerous social organizations including Reiffton Fire Company, in which he served as a volunteer firefighter for several years, Sleepy Hollow Athletic Club, Pike Township Sportsmen’s Association, Victor Emmanuel II Beneficial Society, The Reading Liederkranz, Lion’s Club, YR club, Sons of the American Legion in Morgantown, and the Penn Club of NY. He also enjoyed spending time at Bruno’s watching sporting events. When not at a social club, Matt could most often be found somewhere on a golf course, at all times of the year. Matt was never short of golfing companions to join him on his adventures.
Matt’s faithful journey as a Christian started in his preschool years at Cedarville United Methodist Church in Coventry where he remained a member for many years. For two weeks every summer, at Rawlinsville Camp Meeting in Holtwood, Matt deepened his faith and his friendships through worship, sharing camp meals, having cabin porch conversations, and playing Rack-O tournaments. Matt was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church and was involved in the men’s ministry group and the mission’s team. In June 2022, Matt traveled to Peru on a mission trip with WLUMC, building homes for families in need. Matt was grateful to have had this opportunity to put his faith into action.
A Memorial Service will be held at West Lawn United Methodist Church, Penn & Woodside Avenues, West Lawn on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 2:30 pm. Reverend Chris Hardy will officiate. A time of fellowship and celebration of Matt’s life will be held immediately after the service at the church’s community center.
