Melvin W. Remp, Jr., 85, formerly of Shillington, passed away Saturday, November
19, 2022 at 10:15 pm at the Henry Health Care Center at Topton Lutheran Home.
He was the husband of Christine R. (Raab) Remp. Born in Reading, Mr. Remp was
the son of the late Melvin W. Remp, Sr. and Alverta (Remp) Spayd. He was
employed by Rockwell International as a bench hand for 20 years then as a
houseman at the Sheraton Hotel in Reading and also as a greeter for Koziar
Christmas Village for 20 years. Mr. Remp was a former member of the Berks County
Fire Police Association and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He enjoyed playing
cards, spending time with his family and friends and listening to books on tape. Mr. Remp was
preceded in death by his sisters Joan Snook, Barbara Scull and Sally Hoster and is survived by
his wife and several nieces and nephews, especially his nephew Andrew Hoster who was his
caregiver for the past 7 years.
Funeral Service will be held at Bean Funeral Home 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring,
Monday November 28, 2022 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Gethsemane
Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home,
Monday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Precious Blood.
