Adam J. Smith, 87, of Spring Township, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 6:00 am at Willow Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Kutztown. He was the husband of Karen L. (Haas) Smith. Born in Reading, Adam was the son of the late Adam M. and Clara (Bartasavage) Smith. He was a graduate of Perry High School and served in the United States Army. Adam was employed for 40 years as a forklift operator at Glidden Paints in Reading until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing in local lakes; clamming, crabbing and fishing in Delaware; attending University of Michigan Football games with family and friends; was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan; and played and coached baseball throughout his life. In addition to his wife Karen, Adam is survived by his stepdaughter Colleen E. Duffy at home and his children Bruce A. Smith of St. Lawrence; Brian J. Smith of Reading; Kathy E. Row of Reading; Karen A. Bonsall wife of Jeff Bonsall of Wernersville; his grandchildren Delanie Duffy, Tori Gibson, Christopher Smith, Ryan Row, Randy Row, Tyler Bonsall, Amber Pisano, and his 3 great grandchildren. Adam is also survived by his beloved dog Shelby. He was preceded in death by his sisters Florence Jackson and Nancy Paulhamus.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 11:00 am. Amy S. Landis, Celebrant, will officiate. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory Thursday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508 in memory of Mr. Adam J. Smith.
