Adrienne Anne Katter

1940 — March 22, 2026

Wernersville, Formerly of Kutztown, PA

Adrienne Anne (Damon) Katter, 86, of Wernersville, formerly of Kutztown, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Phoebe Berks Village. She was the loving wife to Dr. Eldon Katter for over 60 years of marriage. Born in South Weymouth, MA, Adrienne was the daughter of the late, W. Stanley Damon and Mary (Connell) Damon.

Adrienne’s life was focused on education, diversity, service and family. Adrienne achieved a BS in Education from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA and later earned her Master’s. After starting out as a third-grade teacher in New Hampshire, Adrienne joined the Peace Corps in 1962, and served for two years at a Teacher Training School in Harar, Ethiopia. Following her marriage, she returned to Africa for two years, this time to Kampala, Uganda, where she worked at Sanyu Babies Home and Save the Children Fund, as well as conducting research for a Child Development Study at Makerere University. After returning to the states, Adrienne dedicated her life to raising her family and volunteering in the community, including serving as President of the Faculty Wives at Kutztown University and Treasurer of the Kutztown Woman’s Club. Adrienne gradually returned to teaching, first as a substitute teacher at the Kutztown University Learning Center, then in the Kutztown Area School District, and eventually as a full-time math remediation specialist in the Kutztown Elementary Schools. To quote one of her Kutztown colleagues. “She has been and will continue to be dearly missed."

Adrienne will be remembered as an award-winning seamstress, an accomplished knitter, an avid indoor plant enthusiast, a talented cook, a graceful hostess and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, but more than anything, she always looked forward to returning home to her family’s Cape Cod cottage with a beautiful view of Martha’s Vineyard, and swimming at Washburn’s Island.

In addition to her husband, Eldon, Adrienne is survived by her daughters, Sara Galosi, of Sinking Spring, Jennifer Barr, wife of Timothy, of Shepherdstown, WV, Heather Wilson, wife of James, of Kingston MA, and her beloved grandchildren Emma, Hailey, Benjamin, Danny, and Conor. She is also survived by her sisters, Jane Zocchi, of Turner, ME, Patrica Briggs, of Osterville, MA, and Gretchen Goddard, of Whitstable, England.

Services for Adrienne will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
