Anna Houser

January 19, 1929 — February 1, 2009

Anna R. Houser, 80, of Sinking Spring, passed away Sunday, February 1st, 2009 at 1:20 p.m. at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where she had been a patient for one day.





Born in Sinking Spring, she was a daughter of the late Samuel B. Fox and Sallie L. (Bloch) Fox, and wife of the late Roscoe J.L. Houser, who passed away August 27, 1987. Mr. & Mrs. Houser had been married for 40 years.


She was a 1946 graduate of Sinking Spring High School, and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sinking Spring since 1947. She was a member of Church Council, a former Sunday Schoolteacher, and involved in the Choir for more than 50 years.


Mrs. Houser was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Valley of Reading AASR; was the past chairperson of the Christian Women's Club; and past Secretary of the Western Berks District and Reading District of the Northern Pa. Senate of Lutheran Churches. She was an Officer with the West Lawn Hospital Auxiliary, and was involved with Save the Station.


She was an avid bowler, and every week participated at Berks Lanes in the Thursday Swing time Seniors League. She also volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels.


She is survived by her son: Ross C., husband of Karen Houser of Greenville, NC.


There are also three grandchildren: Christopher, Elizabeth, and Matthew.


She is also survived by a brother: Earl R. Fox of Fleetwood, and a half sister: Sara Davis of East Waterford, PA; and nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was pre deceased by half sisters and brothers.
