Anna Marie (Ann) Wrobel, 85, of Fleetwood, PA passed away peacefully on the morning of May 29, 2026. She was the loving wife of C. Fred Wrobel, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Pottsville, PA, Ann was the daughter of the late William and Anna (Schmidt) Malone.
Ann was a 1959 graduate of Reading Central Catholic High School. She thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of Central with a special fondness for the study of language and culture in her Spanish classes. Ann developed lifelong friendships with several classmates including two who would ask that she be godmother for their children. During Ann’s senior year, she was hired by the Singer Equipment Company of Reading, PA where she flourished as an executive administrative assistant supporting the efforts of company leadership for five years.
Like many of the women of her era, Ann would leave the corporate world, marry, and start a family. As an only child, she was adamant that her children would have siblings and her promise was fulfilled when her son, Kerry, was born, followed three years later by her second son, Kent. Ann embraced the very essence of motherhood. She treasured the day-to-day activities and responsibilities of being Mom, including preparing her family’s favorite meals, driving her sons and their friends to football scrimmages and games, watching their Little League baseball games (and sometimes giving an earful to an unsuspecting umpire), baking cupcakes for the East Reading Colts snack stand, and volunteering at St. Catharine of Siena School.
After her sons graduated from Central Catholic, Ann sought a new role for herself with the awareness that her greatest joy was found when serving others. Ann joined Threshold Rehabilitation Services in 1990 as a program supervisor. For 20 years, she patiently worked with men and women with physical and intellectual disabilities, providing direction and guidance through hands-on vocational training. Ann taught the skills and built the confidence her clients would need to transition to jobs and opportunities in the community. She was loved and respected by her clients, and dedicated herself to their success, celebrating every job placement.
Ann will forever be remembered for her love of cats, having a sweet tooth, being a faithful Phillies fan, sending cards to her family and friends on their special days, and watching her neighbors’ children, Joshua and Grace McDermott, grow. Ann’s family extends our deepest gratitude to the staff of Grand View Manor for their compassionate care of Ann.
Ann is survived by her loving husband, Fred; sons Kerry and his wife Anastasia, and Kent and his fiancé, Jennifer Bossler; grandchildren Sean Wrobel and his wife Danielle, Maggie Wrobel, Jordan Bossler, and Madison Velazquez and her husband Anthony; and great grandchildren Lucas Lewandowski and Avery Velazquez.
