Anthony Caltagirone

Anthony "Nino" Caltagirone, 97, of Exeter Township, passed away peacefully in his residence on Monday, June 2, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Marjorie A. "Margie" (Eddinger) Caltagirone who passed away on October 1, 2022. Together they shared 64 years of marriage.

Born on July 4, 1927, in Reading, he was the son of the late Raymond and Stella (Julian) Caltagirone. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. Throughout his life, Nino worked many years and retired from Food Fair, as a meat cutter and later as Sergeant of Arms for the Pennsylvania State Capitol, until fully retiring. Nino presided as President of the Sons of Italy Reading Branch for many years and enjoyed visiting casinos and beaches.

Nino is survived by his children, Anthony “Tony” Caltagirone Jr., husband of Carol A., of Fleetwood; Heather J. Henderson, wife of Joseph E., of Exeter Township; daughter in law, Colleen M. Caltagirone, of Sinking Spring; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; Siblings, Patricia O'Brien, wife of Joseph O'Brien of Mohnton; James Caltagirone, husband of Patricia Caltagirone of Wyomissing; Joseph Caltagirone, husband of Sharon Caltagirone of Robesonia; and Thomas Caltagirone, of Reading.

Nino was predeceased by his sons, Jeffrey S. Caltagirone who passed away on September 28, 2020, Gregory A. Caltagirone, who passed away on June 9, 2011, and siblings, Rose Caltagirone, Josephine Caltagirone, Delores Myatt, Sam Caltagirone, John Caltagirone, Raymond Caltagirone, Frank Caltagirone.

A prayer service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, PA 19608 on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 10:00am. Entombment with Military Honors will follow at the Chapel of St. George Gethsemane Mausoleum. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from 9:00am-10:00am.
