Barry L. Wentzel, 78, of Laureldale, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025 at 10:00 am at Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Linda L. (Haas) Wentzel. Born in Reading, Mr. Wentzel was the son of the late Harold K. and Loretta J. (Yeager) Wentzel. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was employed by RR Truck Sales & Service, formerly Haas Trucking for over 30 years until his retirement from the business and later was employed by the Muhlenberg School District for 14 years as a custodian. Mr. Wentzel enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon, vacationing at Cape May, New Jersey, watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State football games, watching college softball and drinking Pepsi. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Tonya M. Miller of West Reading; Todd S. Wentzel of Laureldale; grandchildren Ashlie L. Miller, Kelsie A. Miller, Nicholas T. Wentzel, Joshua T. Wentzel. Mr. Wentzel is also survived by his siblings Bonnie M. Unger of Mohrsville, Joan M. Schweitzer of Reading, Shirley A. Hahn of Sinking Spring, his mother-in-law Mildred A. Haas of Temple and his brother-in-law R. Jeffrey Haas of Temple.
Funeral Procession will depart Bean Funeral Home, 1605 Rockland Street, Hampden Heights, Saturday at 10:15 am. Prayer Service will be held at the Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale at 11:00 am. Reverend Allen J. Hoffa will officiate. Entombment with Military Honors rendered by the United States Navy Honor Guard will follow. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home Saturday from 9:00 am to 10:15 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, help.dav.org donate or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Mr. Barry L.
