Betty L. Wunder

Betty L. Wunder, 89, formerly of Reading, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 9:15 am at Berks Heim.  She was the wife of the late Ralph D. “Donnie” Wunder who passed away May 30, 2013.  Together they shared 61 years of marriage.  Born in Reading, Mrs. Wunder was the daughter of the late Edgar and Helen (Miller) Herbein.   She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sinking Spring, where she sang in their choir.   In addition to taking care of her husband and family, Betty was talented at many things.  She loved to make quilts, cross stitch, crochet, and paint ceramics.  Being in her garden and the outdoors made her happy.  She loved trips to Broadway theatre and the New Jersey boardwalk.  In her younger years, Betty was a Sunday school teacher, Youth group advisor, Campfire leader, and President of the PTA at 13^th and Union.

 Mrs. Wunder is survived by her daughters Cindy L. Yocum wife of Jeffrey B. Yocum of Exeter Township; Sherri A. Schaich-Jurbala wife of Michael F. Jurbala of Benton, PA and her granddaughters Brandi Smith (Martin Smith) and Alexandra Horn (Patrick Horn) and her great grandchildren Jackson and Brycen Smith.  Mrs. Wunder is also survived by her nieces Lori Johnston, Hillary Murdoch, Cynthia Strausburger and was preceded in death by her twin sister Shirley V. Fry and her brother Donald Herbein.

Funeral Service will be held at Bean Funeral Home 6 Fairlane Road, Exeter Township, Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 11:00 am.   Reverend Drew Neidig will officiate.   Graveside Service will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 West Neversink Road, Exeter Township, Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 10:00 am.  The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home Tuesday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org in memory of Mrs. Betty L Wunder.  Online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
