Betty E. (Zeiber) Portner

Betty E. (Zeiber) Portner, 93, formerly of Reading, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in Berks Heim Nursing Home. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Florence (Skean) Crist and Wilbur Zeiber. She graduated from Reading High School in 1949. She worked as a Customer Service Representative at the former Metropolitan Edison Company for 17 years, before retiring in 1994. Prior to that she worked at Boscov’s in the toy department for many years.

She enjoyed crafting, sewing, gardening, and traveling with her daughters.

Betty, affectionately known as Mom-Mom, was a giving and caring woman, who loved her family more than anything. She was devoted and generous to her grandchildren. She always had time for friends and neighbors that dropped by. She cherished every moment spent with her family and made all holidays and special occasions at her home memorable for all. She was a lover of all animals and held a special place in her heart for her dog Bear. Betty was adored by all and will be terribly missed.

Betty is survived by her sister, Shirley Prutzman, her daughters, Donna Portner (Bruce Lutz), Linda Coller (Eric Siegfried), Karen Levi (Jonathan Levi), and Kathy Portner (Jay Sweitzer), her sister-in-law Patti Hiester (Craig Hiester), her daughter-in-law, Dolores Portner, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Betty is predeceased by her son, Gregory Portner, her granddaughter Alexandra (Lexi) Portner, and her 5 brothers.
