Bradford L. "Brad" Schaadt

Bradford L. “Brad” Schaadt, 80, formerly of Spring Township, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 11:06 am at Willow Brook Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Kutztown. He was the husband of the late Linda A. (Handwork) Schaadt who passed away March 15, 2024.

Born in Reading, Brad was the son of the late George and Ruth (Moyer) Schaadt. Brad spent his childhood in Hyde Park, graduating from Muhlenberg High School in 1962. After high school, Brad moved on to Kutztown State College (now Kutztown University), where he played football and received his BS degree in Education in 1966, and later earned his Master’s Degree in Education in 1973. Brad was a Social Studies teacher at Schuylkill Valley High School for 37 years until his retirement in 2003. While Brad loved teaching, his true love was coaching football and track & field. He coached football and track and field at Schuylkill Valley High School while teaching there, and track and field at Wilson High School until 2022.

After his retirement, Brad enjoyed attending Kutztown and high school football games, watching his granddaughter play field hockey, maintaining his yard, and swimming at Green Valley. He was a member of both Alsace Lutheran Church and Advent Lutheran Church. Following in his father's footsteps, he was a member of Masonic Lodge 62.

Brad is survived by his daughters Julie L. Wilchek, wife of Daniel J. Wilchek of Spring Township, and Amie E. Knauer, wife of Jonathan A. Knauer of Mertztown. He is also survived by his granddaughter Sophie B. Wilchek.

Funeral Service will be held at Bean Funeral Home 3825 Penn Ave, Sinking Spring on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 11:00 am. Reverend Mark E. Brophy will officiate. Interment will follow at Laureldale Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home Tuesday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
