Brian John Moyer, 53, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Reading Hospital. Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, Brian was the son of Lt. Col. (ret) John D.W. Moyer and Virginia M. (Ronayne) Moyer of Millersville, Maryland. As a military child, Brian lived across the US, in Nevada, Hawaii (twice), Mississippi, Florida, and Massachusetts, before settling in Maryland. He graduated from Old Mill High School in Millersville, Maryland and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia. After college, Brian worked several years as a mechanical engineer at Newport News Shipbuilding in Norfolk, Virginia. Shifting gears, he made a career change by going to law school focusing on intellectual property and patent law, receiving his Juris Doctorate from the Franklin Pierce Law School in Concord, New Hampshire. More recently he was an attorney for the Social Security Administration, specializing in disability law. Brian liked hiking, rock climbing, fishing, photography, and the company of neighborhood friends. He enjoyed a great cup of coffee and was the master of a meticulously prepared cheesecake for every family function. In addition to his parents, Brian is survived by his sister Dr. Susanne Moyer Taggi and her husband, Dr. Andrew Taggi, his nephew, Charlie, and niece, Josie, of New Hope, Pennsylvania, as well as a large extended family.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. John-Hill Church 620 Hill Church Road, Boyertown, PA 19512 on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10:00 am. Inurnment will immediately follow at St. John-Hill Church Cemetery. A reception will be held at St. Joseph's (Hill) Lutheran Church 244 Koch Road, Boyertown, PA 19512 following the inurnment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org or by mail, ATTN: Gift Processing at National Kidney Foundation HQ, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
