Carole A. Redcay, 63, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away October 5, 2008 at 7:35 pm in the Reading Hospital with her husband by her side. She was a patient since July 27th. She was the wife of Ronald R. Redcay to whom she was married almost 42 years to the day. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late James and Verna(Miles) Godshall. Mrs. Redcay was a 1963 graduate of Reading High School and a member of Alsace Lutheran Church. Mrs. Redcay devoted not only time to her family but also to helping others. She worked as an administrative assistant for 16 years in the Emergency Services Department at the Berks County Chapter of the American Red Cross. She also volunteered her time during national and local disasters to assist those in need. During the 1993 Midwest Floods she was an Eastern Missouri Cross Center Supervisor and helped run a shelter after the 1994 Los Angeles earthquakes. Locally, she assisted in disasters including the opening of shelters during the March blizzard of 1994 and providing assistance to fire victims. In addition to her husband she is survived by a son Brian J. husband of Debra A. Redcay of Muhlenberg Township and a daughter Kellie L. Redcay of Lower Pottsgrove Township; two grandchildren Derrick J. and Daniel T. Redcay and a nephew Christopher Laubach of Mechanicsburg. She was preceded in death by a sister Darlene Smith.
