Charles “Chas” R. Evans Jr., of Cumru Township, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022. He was the loving husband to Joanna M. (Renno) Evans for over 69 years. Born in Reading, PA on August 23, 1931, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Florence M. (Eckert) Evans. Charles was a member of One United Church of Christ in Kenhorst, and was a graduate from Governor Mifflin High School, formerly Shillington High School. Charles Served in the U.S. Navy for 4 Years, after high school, and later went on to Wyomissing Polytech to perform research for The Berilium Corporation, where he worked for 3 years. Charles went on to work for Carpenter Technology Corp. for 28 ½ years, before retiring in 1987.
In addition to his wife Joan, Charles is survived by his son Gregory Charles, companion of Carol, of Robesonia, and daughter, Kimberly Joan Brinker, wife of the late Robert L. Brinker, of Sinking Spring. He is also survived by his two grandsons, David Gregory, son of Gregory Charles, and Erin Michael, son of Kimberly Brinker, and two beautiful great grandchildren, Chase and Ella.
Charles was happiest when surrounded by his family. He loved back yard picnics and enjoying family vacations. Charles loved the date of August 23, his birthday. He would ask everyone if they knew what the date of August 23 was. He enjoyed going to car shows with his family, often times taking home a trophy for his car. He was a member of the Skyline Drive Corvette Club. Charles was an amazing, caring, and devoted husband, a role model for his family, a true inspiration for anyone who knew him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 129 E. Lancaster Ave, Shillington, on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive guests in Bean Funeral Home, Shillington, on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
