Clifford E. Hinnershitz and Jeanne R. (nee Breton) Hinnershitz, of Exeter Twp., passed away just a few days apart, and are now reunited in heaven. Clifford, 91, passed away Thursday, March 12th at 8:00 p.m. at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been a patient since March 9th. Jeanne, 74, passed away Sunday, March 15th at 1:32 p.m. at home surrounded by her loving family.
Clifford was born on October 27, 1917, in Wyomissing, a son of the late Charles F. Hinnershitz and Mamie (Becker) Hinnershitz. Jeanne was born on January 22, 1935 in Manchester, New Hampshire, a daughter of the late Edouward W. Breton and Angeline (Shiney) Breton.
Clifford was a United States Army Air Force Veteran during World War II, and worked as a machinist for Dana Corporation for 30 years, retiring on January 1, 1998 at the age of 80. He was a former member of the Reading YMCA for many years, and faithful member of the Golds Gym in Wyomissing. He was also a well regarded Golden Gloves boxer in his youth as a light heavyweight. Jeanne worked as a saleslady at Boscov's North Dress Dept. for more than 10 years. She remained in contact with her "girls" from Boscov's through the years. In later years, she was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and the Lamplighter Village, both in Melbourne, Florida.
They were married on January 23, 1982 on Kawaiahao Church in Oahu, Honolulu, Hawaii, and shared more than 27 wonderful years of marriage together.
Survivors include Jeanne's children and Clifford's stepchildren: David G. Krott of Temple, Keith E. Krott of Leesport, Wayne A. Krott of Reinholds, Constance (Krott) Salaneck of Birdsboro, and Donna Lee (Krott) Burns of Exeter Twp.
There are also 17 grand and step grandchildren, and 5 great grand and step great grandchildren.
Clifford is survived by a brother: Richard of Reading, and a sister: Marion (Hinnershitz) Reiff of Atlanta, GA.
He is pre deceased by a sister: Mildred (Hinnershitz) Hassler.
Jeanne is survived by a brother: Richard E. Breton of Goffstown, N.H., and a sister: Charlotte B. (Breton) Belanger of Goffstown, N.H., and many nieces and nephews.
