Daniel R. Smith

Daniel R. Smith, 73, of Wyomissing, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 6:00 pm at Fairlane Gardens, Exeter Township. Born in West Reading, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Roy S. and Vilma D. (Schelly) Smith. He was a 1968 graduate of Wilson High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from Grove City College and a Master of Social Service Degree (M.S.S.) from Bryn Mawr College. Mr. Smith’s first career was co-owner and financial controller of E.R. Stuebner, Inc. His most recent career and passion was that of a counselor. He had an incredible knack for listening and helping guide people through difficult times in their lives. A number of people have credited him for “saving their lives”. Mr. Smith was loved dearly by his family and friends. He is survived by his sisters Cheryl A. Clark wife of the late George Clark of Bernville and Marcia L. Winchester wife of Jerry L. Winchester of Bernville. Also surviving is his niece Allison Baum wife of Shane Baum and nephews Timothy Clark husband to Jennie Clark, Jeremy Clark husband to Becky Clark, Madison Winchester husband to Rebecca Winchester, Dale Winchester husband to Kristen Winchester and 20 great nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his nephew Adam Winchester. 

Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Friday, August 30, 2024 at 2:00 pm. Amy S. Landis, Celebrant, will officiate. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Friday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Human Pennsylvania 1729 North 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604 in memory of Mr. Daniel R. Smith.
