David A. Cocci, 68, of Exeter Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Reading Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Theresa E. (Quinn) Cocci. Together, they shared a beautiful marriage of 41 years.
Born on August 9, 1956, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Mario Cocci and Teresa (DeNicco) Cocci. David grew up in Stowe PA, was a member of St. Gabriel’s parish, and attended St. Pius X High School in Pottstown PA. He received a B.S. in Business Management from Kutztown University in 1979 and worked as the Chief Executive Officer of the former Apex Federal Credit Union, now part of American Heritage Federal Credit Union, until retiring in 2015. David was also a longtime parishioner at St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in Exeter Township.
David was happiest when surrounded by his large extended family. Uncle Dave loved sharing big vacations, great food, and bits of (mostly) harmless mischief with his nieces and nephews. Throughout his life, David also played and loved sports. He was a lifelong fan of Philadelphia and local sports teams. He spent many hours coaching and supporting teams at St. Gabriel’s Parish, St. Pius X, St. Catharine of Siena Parish, Central Catholic High School, and Berks Catholic High School. He would have spent even more hours doing so, but sometimes the referees threw him out.
David is survived by his wife Theresa E. Cocci, of Exeter Township; son, Matthew D. Cocci, fiancé of Kaitlin M. Lassen, of Seattle, WA; mother, Teresa Cocci, of Pottstown; brother, Mario Cocci Jr., husband of Vyki Cocci, of Mohnton; brother, Robert Cocci, husband of Justine Cocci, of Pottstown; brother, Jeffrey Cocci, husband of Cyndi Cocci, of Pottstown; and sister, Linda Feldman, wife of Randy Feldman, of Pottstown; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading, PA 19606 on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 11:00am. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown. The family will receive relatives and friends at Saint Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church from 10:00am-11:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Abramson Cancer Center https://www.pennmedicine.org/cancer/giving and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in memory of David A. Cocci.
