Diane L. Eckert

Diane L. Eckert, 86, of Wernersville, formerly of Muhlenberg Township, passed away on July 24, 2025, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. She was the loving wife to Glenn R. Eckert for over 48 years of marriage, before his passing on December 19, 2006. Born in Womelsdorf, Diane was the daughter of the late Isette A. Auman, and Kathryn M. (Keppley). Diane was a graduate of Conrad Weiser. She worked many years for Dr. Ben Longenecker until 1987. Soon after Dr. Longenecker’s retirement, she served as the church secretary of Alsace Luther Church in Reading. Diane retired from Berks Heim in 2007.

Diane enjoyed sewing and cooking, especially PA Dutch foods. In her retirement, she enjoyed being a part of the Berks County Historical Society and doing activities with the residents of Phoebe Berks Village.

Diane is survived by her children, Tracey A. Eckert and Mathew J.A. Eckert. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren and her great grandchildren, Harper, Bella, Gavin, and Rowan, and her sister, Jean K. Garrett.

In addition to her parents and husband, Glenn, Diane is predeceased by her brothers, Merritt F. Auman, and Ronald M. Auman, as well as her grandson, Zachary Dreibilbis.

Service for Diane will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Diane’s Memory to The Berks County Historical Society or Penn State Health.
