Donald R. Knowles, 69, of Lower Alsace Township, passed away on June 21, 2022 at Berks Heim Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was the loving husband to Dorothy M. (Smith) for almost 50 years. Born in Levittown, New York, Donald was the son of the late John Knowles, and Agnes (Sloane). Donald was a graduate of Levittown Memorial High School and went on to work in Inside Sales for Yeager Supply. Don cherished spending time with his kids and grandchildren, they were his greatest joy. He loved going to the OBX, reading his Kindle for hours on the beach as well as jumping into the breakers, bodysurfing in the waves and floating in the ocean. He enjoyed playing golf and shared his love for music, both listening and playing guitar with his son, whenever he could. He would dance with his daughter when any opportunity arose. Upon retirement, Don had dreams of joining Habitat for Humanity to help those in need, but unfortunately his illness prevented this from happening. He was a kind and gentle man with a zest for life, an adventurous spirit, an amazing talent for fixing anything broken and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Don gave his love, heart, spirit and soul to his family and friends and asked for little in return. He will be truly missed by the many people that loved him.
In addition to Donald’s wife, Dorothy, he is survived by his children, Dylan S. Knowles, husband of Melissa, of Mt. Penn, Muriah E. Zuber, wife of Robert, of Lenhartsville, and his grandchildren, Madelyn, Alayna, and Asher. Donald is also survived by his sister, Patricia Dunlap.
Donald is predeceased by his brother, John Knowles, and his sister, Kathy Brook.
Interment will be held privately at the convivence of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Donald’s honor to Habitat for Humanity, 322 West Lamar Street
