Donald Young, Jr.

Donald R. “Chunk” Young, Jr., 64, of Reading, passed away Saturday July 16, 2022 at 9:25 am at the home of his son Chris in Wyomissing.  He was the husband of Phyllis L. (DeTemple) Young.  Born in Reading, Mr. Young was the son of the late Donald R. Young, Sr. and Catherine M. (Acker) Young.  He was employed by Aramark and Berks County Home-Berks Heim as an environmental services manager last working May 31, 2022.  Mr. Young was an avid NASCAR fan, San Francisco 49ers Football team fan, enjoyed attending Classic Car shows and was a supporter of Donald Trump.  In addition to his wife, Mr. Young is survived by d his sons Chris S. Young, loving companion of Heather A. Davis of Wyomissing; Brandon M. Young at home; his grandson Mason Young; his sister Debra, wife of the late Donald Evans of Goose Creek, SC and brother Vallen Young of Reading.  He was preceded in death by his brother James Young.

Funeral Service will be held at Bean Funeral Home 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Friday,  July 22, 2022 at 10:00 am.  Reverend Kerry L. Hicks will officiate.  Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.  The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Friday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Humane Society of Berks County 1801 North 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604 in memory of Mr. Donald R.
