Dorothy R. "Dottie" Christ, 100, of West Reading, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 7:16 a.m. at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where she had been a patient since August 17th.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late George E. Eiche and Maude (Fidler) Eiche, and wife of the late William E. Christ, who passed away on July 5, 1966. She lovingly took care of her parents when they were unable to take care of themselves. She worked as a sales lady for Farr's Shoe Store in Reading for 10 years, last working in 1967. She also worked as a telephone operator, and volunteered at Villa St. Elizabeth's as a greeter and receptionist. She was a member of St. Paul's U.C.C. for 81 years prior to them closing, and attended First U.C.C. Church in Reading for the remainder of her years. Her life was care giving to the ones she loved. Mrs. Christ took care of both her brother Earl H. Eiche and her sister in law Carrie Eiche before they passed away. Services from the Bean Funeral Homes, 3825 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Mark D. Dewald officiating. Interment in Heidelberg Cemetery, Robesonia. Friends will be received Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First U.C.C., 611 Washington St., Reading, PA 19601.
