Dorothy Odagis

May 27, 1925 — March 13, 2021

Muhlenberg Township, PA

Dorothy J. Odagis, 95, affectionately known as Dottie, formerly of Reading, passed away peacefully, with her loving daughters by her side, Saturday March 13, 2021 at 6:06 pm in the residence of her daughter Diane J. Vogt.  She was the wife of the late Leon Odagis who passed away January 4, 1986.  Born in Reading, Mrs. Odagis was the daughter of the late Theodore R. and Amelia J. (Yost) Roehrig.  She was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Reading and was employed as a senior operator for the former Western Electric for 29 years retiring in 1987.  Prior to working at Western Electric she was a waitress at various local restaurants including Stokesay Castle and the Hofbrau.  She is survived by her children Terry J. Weidner of Port Treverton, PA; Diane J. Vogt, wife of Richard J. Vogt with whom she last resided; Pamela K. Eisenhart, wife of Mick Eisenhart of Fleetwood; her grandsons Shannon, Andrew, Alec and granddaughter Cathy and her 4 great grandchildren.  Mrs. Odagis was preceded in death by her sister Helen Underkoffler and her longtime partner Ralph (Rocky) Reynolds.

Dottie loved going to the beach and sitting on the porch across from Sunset Lake in Wildwood Crest watching the beautiful sunsets.  She enjoyed riding bikes on the boardwalk, walking her beloved dog Brandy and partying with family and friends.  Her favorite pastimes were playing Scrabble every Sunday, reading books and doing crossword puzzles.  She was a great cook and made the best meatballs in town!  When asked to describe Dottie in one word, family and friends said: fun, inspiring, lighthearted, easy-going, beautiful, illuminating, generous, gentle, thoughtful, vivacious, sweet, strong, kind, love, heart, angel, joyful, wonderful, sassy and perfect!  She was all these things and loved by all who knew her.  She will be sorely missed but we are thankful our lives were blessed to have her.  We want to thank Heartland Hospice for the loving care they gave to Dottie in her final weeks of life, they were truly Angels on earth.

Funeral Service will be private for family only on Friday March 19, 2021 in Bean Funeral Home 1605 Rockland Street, Hampden Heights.  Reverend Robert G. Argot, Jr. will officiate.  Interment will follow at Charles Evans Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice 2201 Ridgewood Road #180, Wyomissing, PA 19610 in memory of Mrs. Dorothy J. Odagis.  Online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
