Douglas R. Loy

Douglas R. Loy, 80, of Laureldale, passed away peacefully in his residence on Thursday, April 9, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Sandra L. (Bonetti) Loy, who passed away on January 14, 2019. Together they shared 54 years of marriage. Born on December 17, 1945, in Seattle, he was the son of the late Richard E. and June M. (Hahn) Loy. Douglas served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. During his life he worked as a Powders Technician for Morton International until retirement.

He found true happiness in life’s simple, beautiful moments, sitting on a balcony by the beach, sharing laughter with friends and family on the back deck, or tending lovingly to his yard. He had a deep passion for cars, a unique joy in collecting gargoyles, and a playful spirit that came alive each Halloween as he decorated with pride and creativity. He held a deep love for his country and spoke with pride about his service in Vietnam. Above everything, he cherished being the man of the house, finding his greatest purpose in protecting, providing for, and loving his family with all his heart

Douglas is survived by his daughters, Liebra A. Loy, of Muhlenberg Township; Melissa A. Nhan, of Allentown; Jaime M. Loy, of Muhlenberg Township; grandchildren, Justin Thompson, Sonia Rodriguez, Kim Nhan, Tanya Nhan, Sara Loy, Anthony Loy-Heller; Cerissa Koscielny; 4 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes 1605 Rockland Street Reading, PA 19605 on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11:00am. Amy S.
