Dr. Dina G. Wert

Dr. Dina G. Wert, 60, of Wyomissing, passed away Friday, March 22, 2024 at 1:42 P.M. at Reading Hospital.  She was the wife of David E. Wert.  Born in Reading, Dina was the daughter of Hazel (Hallam) Geracimos and the late Nicholas Geracimos.  She was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church.  Dina was a 1981 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School; 1985 graduate of Millersville University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Teaching; 1989 graduate of Kutztown University with a Master of Education School Counseling; 1992 graduate of Temple University with an Elementary Principal Certification; and 2005 graduate of Immaculata University with her Doctorate of Education (Ed.D).

Dina began her career in the Wyomissing School District, teaching elementary classes from 1985-1990; from 1990-2002 she was a school counselor at the Wilson School District; 2002-2011 Dina was a principal for the Wilson School District; 2011-2020 she was a principal for the Downingtown School District (where she won the award for the 2013 Pennsylvania National Distinguished Elementary Principal).

After retirement from Downingtown, Dina kept busy, in 2020 serving as interim principal for the Governor Mifflin School District; from 2015 to present serving as an Instructional Facilitator, PA Inspired Leadership; and from October 2022 to present serving as the Eastern Regional Service Specialist, Pennsylvania Principals Association.   Dina also was a member of numerous associations:  ASCD/PASCD; PAESSP/NAESP; Phi Delta Kappa (Kutztown Chapter); PSBA (where she won the Wanda McDaniel Leadership Award).  Also, she was a board member at Berks Nature.

Dina was warm and caring, an optimist, creative, and musically talented. Dina believed in God and God’s Will. If someone was in need, she was there to offer her hands and heart. Notwithstanding her busy career, Dina spent time keeping up with the latest novels with her book club of 20-plus years, traveling with husband Dave and their longtime “Caper Crew” (of which Dina was a founding member), and entertaining family and friends at their home under their new covered porch and in inclement weather, downstairs in “Dave’s Dive.” Dina also loved the outdoors, as an avid gardener, tending her native plants and herbs, riding e-bikes with husband Dave, kayaking at Blue Marsh, and trying her hand at pickleball. In other words, Dina loved people and life.

In addition to her husband and mother, Dina is survived by her children Stephanie W. Teresi, wife of Joseph L. Teresi of Los Angeles; Andrew D. Wert of Pittsburgh; and Ellie, her beloved Bernedoodle.  Dina is also survived by her brother John N. Geracimos, husband of Melissa A. Geracimos of Alexandria, Virginia; and her sister Jill G. Bollinger, wife of Roy Bollinger, III of York.
