Dr. Richard C. Baumbach died on April 17, 2023, at the Highlands at Wyomissing, where he resided. Born March 7, 1929 in Scranton, PA, Baumbach was the son of the late Clifford W. and Irene C. Baumbach. A 1946 graduate of Wyomissing High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in 1950 in psychology and a minor in chemistry. At Syracuse, he was a member of Alpha Chi Rho, Spanish Club, intramural sports, manager of the soccer team, and elected to the following honorary organizations: Phi Beta Kappa, Psi Chi and Alpha Epsilon Delta.

Baumbach attended The School of Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with honors in 1954. He was elected to the Matthew H. Cryer Honorary Dental fraternity and received the Xi Psi Phi Senior Award. Baumbach was also a member of the Xi Psi Phi Dental fraternity.

From July 1954 through September 1956, Baumbach was a Naval Reserve Officer in the US Navy Dental Corps stationed in Bainbridge, MD and the Philadelphia Naval Yard.

Baumbach attended the Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and performed an Oral Surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

Baumbach was an Oral Surgeon for over 30 years, serving the Reading, Lansdale and Norristown, PA communities. He was active in church council, served as President of the Sinking Spring Lions Club and on a council level with the Boy Scouts of America.

He is survived by his sons, Peter G. (Luena), Philip F. (Laurie) and S. Andrew (Melissa), as well as his brother Clifford W., Jr. and sister-in-law Gloria; nieces Robin (Brad) Metcalf and Lauren (Michael) Baumbach-Oei and nephew Clifford (Barbara) Baumbach III; grandchildren Kenneth Baumbach, Thomas Baumbach, Heidi (Robert) Read and Alison Baumbach; great-grandchild Connor Richard Read; step-children Wendy Yourkavitch, Cheryl (Ted) Samples, David (Brenda) McNerny, Jack (Joyce) McNerny, Jr. and Scott (Jennifer) McNerny.

Baumbach was predeceased by wives Mary Ellen (Grove) Baumbach, Barbara (Sharman) Baumbach and Sharon (McNerny) Baumbach.
