Edward J. Gilden, Jr., 82, of Cornwall Terrace, passed away Friday, January 2nd at 5:20 a.m. at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been a patient since December 26th. He was transferred there from Phoebe Berks, where he had been a patient for four years.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edward J. Gilden Sr., and Elizabeth (Greenfield) Gilden.

He was the loving husband of Joan A. (Laprade) Gilden. The couple have been married for 52 years.

He was a 1944 graduate of Northeast High School.

He was a veteran, serving with the US Navy, Air Force, and Army for 13 years during both World War II and the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola R.C.C., Whitfield, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He worked as a Service Technician for Canon, Bell & Howell, Ditto in Philadelphia for 50 years, retiring in 1994.

He loved bowling and golfing.

He enjoyed Movies, including favorites Casablanca and To Hell and Back, and television shows, including favorite Monk.

His life was his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, the Apple of His Eye, Debra A. (Gilden), wife of Jeff Kuehn, of Orwigsburg.

There are also two grandchildren: Macy A. Kuehn and Kyle P. Kuehn.

He is also survived by brother in laws, sister in laws, and many nieces and nephews.

He was pre deceased by a son: Michael E. Gilden, who passed away June 20, 2002.
