Efstratios Marmarou

Efstratios Marmarou, 91, entered eternal rest on Friday March 24, 2023. He has joined in heaven his cherished wife, Maria, of 63 years. They were born on the same day of April 23^rd 1931 in the same village of Filia, Mytilene, Greece.  Mr. Marmarou was the son of the late George and  Efterpe (Saava) Marmarou.  He emigrated to Montreal, Canada to marry his dear Maria in 1958. They lived and worked for ten years and came to the United States to continue their hard work to make a better life for their family.  They retired 25 years later to return and enjoy living on their beautiful island of Lesvos for 25 more years.  Mr. Marmarou was a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church and was the owner of Strat's Restaurant in Reading.  He is survived by his daughters Debbie Yost, wife of Eric Yost, of Wyomissing; Ariadne M. Kopala, wife of Michael J. Kopala, of Shillington; Georgia Pauley, wife of John Pauley, of Sinking Spring; his twelve wonderful grandchildren Alexander, Mia , wife of Jacob Hornberger II, Maria, Efstratios, Moses, Sophie, Efstratia, Sophia, Gabrielle, Gretchen, Nathaniel, Evan, and his great granddaughter Rhea. He is also survived by his sister Hariklea Tzatzou of Filia, Lesvos and his many nephews and nieces in Greece.  Mr Marmarou was heartbreakingly predeceased in death by his beloved daughter Evelyn Himlin; his two brothers Panagiotis and Emanuel and his sister Anastasia. A private Funeral Services will be held at Sts Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1001 East Wyomissing Blvd, Reading, Pa 19611.
