Eleanor L. (Foster) Mondello Himmel

Eleanor L. (Foster) Mondello Himmel, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Reading Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Marshall Mondello, who passed away in November of 1982. Together they shared 30 years of marriage. In her later years, she remarried the late Robert Himmel.

Born on February 20, 1935, in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Harry T. Foster Sr. and Bessie (Frick) Foster Williams. During her life, she worked for many companies, lastly in Sales and as an Assistant Manager for Port Clinton Peanut Shop until retiring. 

Eleanor was known as a people’s person; she loved to have fun and overall loved her family. Eleanor loved dogs and going to the casino.

She is survived by her sister, Patricia A. Lauer, significant other of Bruce S. Roberts, of Hamburg, with whom she resided; sister, Louise Foster, of Georgia; brother, William Foster, husband of Joyce, of Reading; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husbands, Eleanor was predeceased by her siblings, Kathryn Weidner, Bessie Stricker, Walter Foster Sr., Harry T. Foster Jr., Sara Weidenhammer, Jack Foster, Tommy Foster, and Jimmy Foster.

A special thank you to Cynthia Levan (niece), Kyle Purcell (great nephew), Caitlyn Purcell (great niece), and Bruce Roberts for all their loving care to Eleanor throughout the years. 

Funeral Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes 1605 Rockland Street Reading, PA 19604 on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
