Gail Jeanette Renninger

Gail Jeanette (Unger) Renninger, 87, of Shillington, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Reading Hospital, with her loving children by her side. She was the loving wife to Merrill E. Renninger for over 64 years of marriage, before his passing on May 4, 2026. Born in Reading, Gail was the daughter of the late, Earl Unger & Elma (Ruth).

Gail was a lifelong member and baptized in Grace Lutheran Evangelical Lutheran Church, and volunteered at GGML Community Days for 41 years with her husband Merrill and kids, David and Diane. She enjoyed crafting, ceramics, and cooking, often looking up new recipes in her many cookbooks and food magazines. She enjoyed going on her many cruises with family and friends, 16 in total, traveling to Notre Dame for football games with her family. One of Gail’s favorite things was decorating the house for each season and holiday.

In her early years she enjoyed going to the roller rink to skate. She was an office manager/secretary for the CEO of the Hamburg State Hospital. As she had her two children, she gave up working full-time to become a full-time mom at home. Her passion was to be a mother and making her family happy, she was a strong, caring, gentle, quiet person. Because of her personality she became mom to many over the years including the nurses during her last days of her stay in the hospital.

She always puts other people before herself taking care of people and their needs.

Gail is survived by her children, David Renninger, of Shillington, and Diane Renninger, of Shillington.

In addition to her parents and husband Merrill, Gail is predeceased by her sister, Nancy (Unger) Razzano.

A memorial service for Gail will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 30 Liberty Street, Shillington, PA 19607. The family will receive guests in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Gail’s memory to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.
