George A. Thompson

George A. Thompson, 66, of Exeter Township, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the Reading Hospital. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 21 years, Valerie R. Thompson.

Born on September 12, 1959, in Sharps, Virginia, George was the son of the late King Philip Thompson Sr. and Shirley Winifred Dunaway Thompson. A proud graduate of Overbrook High School's Class of 1979, George honorably served in the United States Marines.

For over three decades, starting in 1991, he dedicated his career to working as a truck driver for Black Horse Carriers, now known as Penske. His personal joys included fishing, boating, riding motorcycles, and woodworking.

George is survived by his wife, Valerie R. Thompson of Exeter Township, step son Brian Matthews; two brothers, two sisters and a host of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and sister, Beverly Ann Thompson, who passed away on January 26, 2025.
