Georgene A. Smith

Georgene A. Smith, 89, of Exeter Township, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2026. She was the loving wife of William M. Smith and daughter of the late George and Frances Templin. After graduating from Central Catholic High School, she worked as a receptionist at Ladd Knitting Mills until it became necessary for her to care for her three young sisters. She married and lived her greatest vocation as a loving wife and mother. She was a selfless and devoted stay at home mom. She loved intensely and generously gave her time and treasure. She loved her family, friends, strangers, God, life, and having fun.

She is survived by her children, Stephanie Wachowicz (wife of Alan), Daniel Smith (husband of Michelle), and her grandchildren, Brian, Laura, Adam, Nicholas, Allyson, and Andrew. She also leaves behind her sisters, Cheryl Guthier (wife of Joseph), Susan Pfautz (partner of Donald Freese), and Maureen Stopper (wife of John), and was preceded in death by her siblings, Jacklyn Bowers and George Templin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 14, 2026, at 11:00am at Saint Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading, PA 19606. Friends and family are invited to visit Monday from 9:00 to 10:45am at the Church. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
