Gerald R. "Jerry" Rhoads

Gerald R. “Jerry’ Rhoads, 92, of Spring Township, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 7:24 am at the home of his son Richard A. “Rick” Rhoads, with whom he last resided. He was the husband of the late Doris M. (Kulp) Rhoads who passed away September 15, 2016. Born in Reading, Mr. Rhoads was the son of the late James and Edith (Jackson) Rhoads. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Reading and served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Rhoads was employed for 28 years by Carpenter Technology as a wire drawer retiring in 1987. He enjoyed playing golf and did so until the age of 91. Mr. Rhoads enjoyed meeting his friends at McDonald’s in West Reading, enjoyed going to the beach, traveling with his cousin Nancy and making people laugh, which brought him great joy. He is survived by his sons Richard A. “Rick” Rhoads husband of Patty L. Rhoads with whom he last resided, Steven S. “Steve” Rhoads husband of Jody L. Rhoads of Mohrsville; his granddaughters Amanda Goodge wife of Rich Goodge and Lindsey Rhoads fiancé of Anthony Micholik. Mr. Rhoads was preceded in death by his son David Rhoads and brother Rodney Rhoads.

Funeral Service will be held at Bean Funeral Home 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 9:30 am. Deaconess Deborah Graf will officiate. Interment with Military Honors rendered by the United States Navy Honor Guard will follow at Sinking Spring Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm and Wednesday from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.
