Giuseppe Serafino Borelli

Giuseppe “Joseph” Serafino Borelli, 92, of Sinking Spring, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at The Reading Hospital surrounded by his beloved family. He was the loving husband to Giovanna Maria (Iervasi) Borelli, for 65 years of marriage. Born in Sersale, Catanzaro in Calabria, Italy, Joseph was the son of the late, Antonio Borelli, and Carmelina (Talarico). He opted to leave his homeland and make a new beginning in the United States in Reading, PA by way of the Andrea Doria. He travelled back to Italy to marry his bride, Giovanna (Iervasi) Borelli and then moved her to Reading as well. He worked as a tailor in his uncle's shop, Talarico's Tailorshop, in Reading and at other dry cleaning establishments in the area. He attended night school to learn the American culture and history and eventually passed the citizenship test to become an American. He was very proud to be an Italian American. He worked as a brick layer at CarTech for over 28 years before his retirement. Giuseppe’s greatest loves were his family, hard work, and farming. He was also an avid sports fan, attending Philadelphia A's / Phillies and New York Yankees games. He also enjoyed boxing, Italian soccer, and watching his sons' and grandchildren's sporting events at Wilson and in college..

In addition to his wife, Giovanna, Joseph is survived by his sons, Luigi C. Borelli, husband of Wanda, of Orange City, FL, Giuseppe D. Borelli, husband of Cynthia, of Wyomissing, Giovanni A. Borelli, husband of Carmela, of Sinking Spring, and Christopher S. Borelli, husband of Rachel, of Wyomissing.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Giuseppe A. Borelli, Gabriella A. Manto, Antonio D. Borelli, Nicholas Giuseppe Borelli, Gia M. Borelli, Dante R. Borelli, Kayla N. Riegel, Alicia Clemente, Brandon Pritchett, and many great grandchildren.

Giuseppe is predeceased by his siblings, Luigi Borelli, Serafino Borelli, Angelo Borelli, and Francesco Borelli.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 10:30 AM in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2600 St. Albans Drive, Reading, PA 19609. Entombment to follow in The Chapel of St. George, Gethsemane Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and guests in Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM.
