Gregory J. Kurpiewski, 82, of Spring Township, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 5:14 a.m. at Berks Heim. He was the husband of Carol J. (Hartman) Kurpiewski. Born in Reading, Gregory was the son of the late John S. and Helen (Fura) Kurpiewski. He was a 1960 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Shortly after his discharge from the Navy, he met the love of his life after a work accident. He was a designer at Met Ed until his retirement. Greg loved his country and always showed his patriotism. He was a part-time police officer in Oley, PA, and he relished telling stories about the events that would unfold while working a shift. He was an active member of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Kutztown, where he started the first Men’s Club. As the first President, he created a golf outing, among many other successful events. Greg was also very passionate about pistol shooting. Every Tuesday and Thursday night for many years, he went pistol shooting and then went on to start his personal business, Greg’s Shooter’s Supplies. He built a network of friends, and after several years of running his business, he was invited to set up at the United States Secret Service shooting competition. He lit up any room he walked into, and he was a take-him-or-leave-him kind of guy. Anyone he called friend had likely shared a beer and a laugh with him. Greg was an eternal optimist, and while he was into everything, there was nothing that he loved more than his family. He never missed an event for his girls, proudly supporting every school function, whether it was selling candy bars or making sandwiches. He taught his daughters to always be strong and stand up for themselves always. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Jennifer E. Egan, wife of Michael T. Egan of Pottstown, Susan C. Jagan, wife of Ramesh S. Jagan of Olney, Maryland, and his grandchildren Olivia R. Egan, Liam M. Egan, Gabriella C. Jagan, Joshua A. Jagan, and his sister Janice Nenichka of Bowie, Maryland. Memorial Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 129 East Lancaster Ave., Shillington, Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com.
