Harry George Knittle Jr.

Harry George Knittle Jr., 91, of Birdsboro, passed away peacefully in his residence on Thursday, May 29, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy Joan (Hill) Knittle. Together they shared 68 years of marriage.

Born on May 18, 1934, in Pottsville, he was son of the late Harry G. Knittle Sr. and Amy Amelia (Leininger) Knittle. He served proudly in the United States Navy and was a former employee of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Pottstown and the Boyertown Area School District.

Throughout his life, Harry was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed deer hunting, yearly fishing trips to Canada, watching golf, and cheering for the Eagles and Phillies. He was a member of a number of pool and dart leagues in the Pottstown area. Among his 9 children, there are 3 sets of twins.

Harry is survived by his wife Dorothy Joan (Hill) Knittle, of Birdsboro; children, Harry G. Knittle III., husband of Lori Knittle, of Pottstown; Sandra Jean Ostroski, wife of Joseph Ostroski, Camp Hill; Joan Marie Schaeffer, wife of Jeff Schaeffer, of Douglassville; David Alan Knittle, husband of Pamela Knittle, of Pottstown; Karin Lynn Small, of Birdsboro; Donald Gary Knittle, husband of Sutjit Knittle, of St. Augustine, Florida; Susan Linda Brower wife of Ted Brower, of Birdsboro; Claire Antrim-Mayberry, of Royersford; Christine Louise Johnston, wife of Robert Johnston, of Lansdale; 21 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his siblings Jennie Butts, Joan James, Carol Dillow, Linda Staller, Robert Knittle.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes 129 E. Lancaster Ave. Shillington, PA 19607 on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 11:30am. Amy S. Landis, Certified Celebrant will officiate. Burial of the Urn will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:30am-11:30am.
