Helen C. Singley

Beloved mother, Helen C. Singley, 97, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, at Berks Heim surrounded by her daughters. She was the wife of the late Walter H. Singley who passed away in 2009. Born in Shenandoah, Schuylkill County, Mrs. Singley was the daughter of the late Peter and Sophie (Dombrowski) Faleski. 

 Helen is survived by her daughters Deborah, wife of Terry Hojnowski of Bernville; Donna, widow of Paul Namiotka of Reading; Lydia Singley of Wyomissing and her sister Constance Marx of Shillington.

She was preceded in death by her son-in law, Paul Namiotka, and siblings Peter Faleski, Leon Faleski, and Elsie Meldazis.

As a devout Catholic, Helen was a member of Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church in Shillington where she had been a eucharistic minister, did church cleaning, and served lunches at the school. 

She was employed by Boscov’s West as Domestics Department Manager for almost 30 years, retiring in 1989. For many years, Boscov’s shoppers recognized her. 

After retirement, Helen and her husband, Walter, enjoyed traveling and polka dancing. She was an avid Phillies fan, after having played softball in school where she was a star pitcher – not so much a hitter, except “when I connected”.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home at 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, on Friday September 6, 2024, from 8:15 am to 10:15 am. Funeral Procession will then depart Bean Funeral Home at 10:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, 42 Kerrick Road, Shillington at 11:00 am. Reverend Edward J. Essig, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
