Herbert Burkey Jr

Herbert N. Burkey Jr., 80, of Reading, passed away October 4, 2009 at 6:05 AM in his residence. He resided with Leona B. Frizzell. Born in Reading on October 3, 1929, he was the son of the late Herbert N. Burkey Sr. and the late Bertha M. (Levy) Burkey.

Mr. Burkey was employed as a grinder at Car Tech Corp. for 30 years retiring in April of 1998. He was an army veteran of the Korean & Vietnam Wars. He was also a Life Member of Hunter Liggett VFW Post in Reading.

Surviving in addition to his companion are 3 daughters Mary Ann (Burkey) Grant of Reading, Ruth Marie (Burkey) Sloane of Laureldale and Cathy Lee Burkey of Hamburg, 2 sons Roy A. Burkey of Topton and Brent A. Burkey of Reading, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was predeceased by a sister June Zieckler.
