Hildegarde F. (Crammer) Roche, 84, of West Lawn, PA passed away peacefully on September 21, 2023 at The Heritage of Green Hills. She re-joins her husband of 62 years, David L. Roche, who passed away in 2015. Born in Robesonia, PA she is one of 13 children of the late Harry and Laura (Frantz) Crammer.
She is survived by her Son, David R. Roche, husband of Joanna, in Conway SC; her Daughter, Tamela Roche, in Cambridge MA; her grandsons David M. Roche (husband of Tatiana) in Temple PA and Christopher D. Roche (husband of Chey Ann) in Shillington PA, and her great grandchildren Edwin, Timothy, Mazie, and Brianna. She was preceded in death by Sisters Sarah, Betty, Dorothy, Jeanette, and Laura. She is survived by her Sisters Myrle, Gloria, and Pat; her Brothers Harry (Alina), George (Lil), Vernon (Kathy), and Jerry; as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families.
A graduate of Reading High School in 1957, Hildegarde worked for CNA Insurance for several years after high school. While married with two young children, she was the office manager for Dave Roche Electric, Inc. for over 25 years.
Hildegarde loved gardening, sewing, her bowling team, and volunteering to help those less fortunate. She volunteered for FISH (non-profit) to transport seniors without a car to the grocery store. For many years she volunteered on service projects with her husband in the Masonic Lodge of Reading, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Legion of Honor, and the RAJAH Shriners. She loved volunteering to help children receiving care at Shriners Hospital. As a member of Advent Lutheran Church in West Lawn she served for several years as the Secretary and as an office volunteer.
Known as “Hilde” she was a consummate organizer and loved to entertain. She welcomed family and friends with her radiant smile, warm hugs, and contagious laughter. During many fun parties she also shared her hilarious gift of flatulence (with pride!). We simply cannot honor her life without remembering her lighthearted sense of humor and rare talent which created some of the funniest moments with close family and friends. Now before anyone thinks we are being disrespectful; she also loved reading obituaries that were funny!
To honor her wishes, a private memorial will be held at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, Hilde requests donations to Shriners Hospital for Children or Animal Rescue League of Berks County. Arrangements provided by Bean Funeral Homes in Sinking Spring, PA.
