James E. Weaver

James E. Weaver, 89, of Exeter Township, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at home with his loving daughters by his side. He was the husband of the late Doris M. (Focht) Weaver with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Born in New Holland, Jim was the 2nd oldest son of the late Allen and Reba (Harsh) Weaver. He enlisted when he was 17 and honorably served in the United States Navy and served several tours for the United State Merchant Marines taking him to many foreign and exotic ports. He absolutely loved his time in the service and at sea. Mr. Weaver was employed as an electrician at NGK Metals in Tuckerton for almost 40 years until his first retirement and then again as an electrician for Hoffman Industries.

He is survived by his daughters Tammy L. Zyla wife of Steve J. Zyla of Harrisburg and Michelle L. Smith wife of Daniel M. Smith. Mr. Weaver is also survived by his six grandchildren Devon, Cory, Tyler, Nicholas, Allyson & Andrew and three great- grandchildren Leah, Harleigh & Benny. Also surviving are his siblings Patricia Ream of East Petersburg, Dawn Styer of New Holland, Wilma McCann, wife of David McCann of Lancaster, Betty Schwartz of Melbourne, Florida, Bruce Weaver husband of Edith Weaver of Quarryville and Elaine Cline of Gastonia, North Carolina and was preceded in death by brothers Harold and Donald.

Jim was a very easy-going man who loved & appreciated the simple things in life, especially later in life: going out to breakfast, packets of jelly, sitting on the front porch listening to the birds, “puppy dog”, PBS, car washes, watching wildlife from the deck, doing dishes, tinkering in the shed, fishing w/ the grandkids, the Phillies, doing the daily crosswords & just giving a wave to anyone who passed by the house.

Funeral Service will be held at Bean Funeral Home 6 Fairlane Road, Exeter Township, Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 3:00 pm. Reverend Tyler Davis will officiate. Interment will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026 at 2:30 pm at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the United States Naval Honor Guard.
