Jean Janov

Jean L. Janov, 92, of Fleetwood, passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 at Penn Presbyterian Hospital, Philadelphia. She was the wife of the late Howard G. Janov who passed away October 2, 1997. Born in Reading, Jean was the daughter of the late Dr. Hugh P. and Lois E. (Buzzard) Shellabear.  She was a 1947 graduate of Reading High School and attended Albright College for 2 years. She graduated from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. Mrs. Janov was a registered nurse in the emergency room at the Reading Hospital for 4 years. She was a member of the Berks County Dog Training Club and a life member of the Reading Hospital Alumni Association. Jean, an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, knitting, bird-watching, and being a mom to her beloved dogs. Jean had one brother, William Shellabear, and is survived by her brother’s wife, Ruth of Mechanicsburg, her nephew Brian H. Shellabear (husband of Linda) of Reading; nieces R. Lisa Joseph (wife of Mark) of Voorhees, NJ and Janice H. Toser of Harrisburg. Jean had 2 grand nieces & 3 grandnephews and will be missed by her dear friend and neighbor, Carol Gruber of Fleetwood.
