Jeffrey R. Kauffman

Jeffrey R. Kauffman, 76, passed away after a courageous battle with MDS/leukemia on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Kathy Ann Kauffman (Leininger). Together they shared almost 55 years of marriage. Born in Reading on February 2, 1949, he was the son of the late Amos “Jim” and Fay “Eloise” Kauffman (Reber). Jeffrey was a graduate of Governor Mifflin High School Class of 1968. During his life, he worked at United Corrstack for over 30 years, until retirement.

Jeffrey loved spending time with and watching his grandchildren, which provided great motivation for his fight against cancer. When cancer stripped away his ability to attend sporting events, he was a religious watcher of the events online or on television. We know he will be watching from Heaven.

Jeffrey was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting with family at Blue Marsh Lake at his “spot” and fishing, especially at Lyman Run State Park in Potter County.

Jeffrey loved traveling with his wife, Kathy, and dogs to Cape May. He enjoyed interacting with the people who came up to greet their dogs and eating seafood, especially lobster, at the local restaurants. He also enjoyed walking along the beach and collecting seashells and other treasures.

Jeffrey was a sports fan, with his favorite team being Pitt Football. He watched the football games in person and at home, often watching the games on repeat if he recorded them on TV. He also was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, as well as Governor Mifflin Football.

During his fight against cancer, Jeffrey would wear his “funny shirts”. The humorous shirts often brought smiles and laughs to the Oncology team at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, as well as out in the community. He enjoyed bringing laughter to people in hopes it would brighten their day.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife Kathy Ann Kauffman, of Shillington; son, Christopher J. Kauffman, husband of Robin W. Kauffman, of Media, PA; grandchildren, Ansley, Benjamin, Chase; sister in law, Sharon Leffler, wife of Gregory Leffler, of Lower Heidelberg Township; nieces, Kimberly Yoh, of Wernersville; and Lisa Evans, of North East, MD.

Jeffrey was predeceased by his son Scott J. Kauffman who passed away on December 23, 2001; and his sisters, Lynda Love and Brenda Fuoti.

A Graveside service will be held at Mohnsville Cemetery in Mohnton on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blood Cancer United, former Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in memory of Jeffrey R. Kauffman.
