Born in Reading, he was the son of Jermias Martell and Carmen J. (Gonzalez) Martell of Reading.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother: Jadonis J. Martell, and Judith Rivera.

There are also eleven Aunts, six Uncles, and many cousins.
