Joan E. Adams

Joan E. (Wilfert) Adams, 90, of Womelsdorf, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on September 17, 2025.. She was born November 27, 1934, Reading, PA , to the late Warren P. Wilfert and Etna A. (Miller) Wilfert.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Darlene M. (Adams) Schaffer, grandson Timothy B. Bielawa, siblings Warren P. Wilfert Jr, Ruthanne (Wilfert) Rabold, Margaret (Wilfert) Pennock, Elinor P. (Wilfert) Krow, and Etna A. (Wilfert) Gehret.

Surviving are her children: Deborah A (Adams) Harper, Paul T. Adams husband of Debra, Stephen G. Adams husband of Richard Courter, George H. Adams III husband of Karen, and Douglas H. Adams husband of Robert Lush. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Joan was a graduate of Reading High School in 1952. She then attended The Reading Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1955. After graduating nursing school Joan began working at Wernersville State Hospital until her retirement.

Joan was known for her giving heart, and goofy personality. She regularly traveled out west to volunteer at the Cheyenne River Youth Project in Eagle Butte, SD after her retirement. She loved cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, known to never miss a game. She loved playing cards, bingo, and scratch offs. Joan was loved by many, and will be very missed.
