Joan Ann Gilden, 87, of Spring Township, passed away Monday, February 6, 2023 in her residence.  She was the wife of the late Edward J. Gilden, Jr. who passed away January 2, 2009.  Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, Mrs. Gilden was the daughter of the late Victor Laprade, Sr. and Mary (Wentworth) Beland.  She was an active member of Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington and served on various committees and was a member of the Primetimers.  Mrs. Gilden was a 1953 graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester and was a manager at Greystone Country Club for 35 years and a manager at Galen Hall Golf Course.  She was a member of West Lawn Women’s Club, Historical Society of Berks County, Precious Blood Convent Auxiliary for 30 years.  Mrs. Gilden was a volunteer at Wernersville State Hospital, Hamburg State Hospital and Phoebe Berks Health Care Center.  Mrs. Gilden is survived by her daughter Debbie A. Kuehn, wife of Jeffrey P. Kuehn of Schuylkill Haven, her grandchildren Macy A. and Kyle P. Kuehn, her brothers Victor Laprade, husband of Helen Laprade of Auburn, Massachusetts and Dave Seymour, husband of Cathy Seymour of Chalfonte, Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son Michael E. Gilden, June 20, 2001.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church Kerrick & Mitti Roads, Shillington, Monday, February 13, 2023 at 11:00 am.  Reverend Edward J. Essig, Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Berks County Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive relatives and friends at Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Monday from 9:30 am to 10:45 am.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Animal Rescue League of Berks County 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508 or Hillside Society, 51 SPCA Road, Pottsville, PA 17901 in memory of Mrs. Joan Ann Gilden.  Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
