Joan C. "Jennie" Lombardo

Joan C. “Jennie” Lombardo, formally of Shillington, passed away on June 14, 2024 at Country Meadows Retirement Community, Wyomissing. She was the beloved wife of John D. Lombardo, Sr. who passed away on March 30, 2007. 

John and Jennie were married 58 years. Born on September 26, 1926, she was the daughter of Peter and Florence (Pullara) Trani.

Jennie was born in Concrete, Colorado. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Coaldale, PA and from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, Reading PA in 1947. Her professional nursing career spanned 41 years.

She was a lifetime member of St. John Baptist de La Salle RCC in Shillington, where she was a member of the Primetimers and supported the parish in many ways.

Her family was her life. “Mom-Mom” enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed her annual “Christmas Cookie Bake” and “Feeding the Family since 1926”.

She is survived by her son, John D. Lombardo, Jr. (wife Connie Mattiello); daughter, Louise A. Fura, (husband Michael Fura), grandchildren Jonathan M. Fura (wife Kristina Klein), Matthew J. Fura (wife Taylor Bendetti), Amanda E. Brooks and great grandchildren, Olivia Brooks, Claire and Jonathan J. Fura. Mrs. Lombardo was preceded in death by her brother Angelo Trani. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Baptist de la Salle RCC, 42 Kerrick Road, Shillington, PA 19607 on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 10:00 am. The Family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday at the church from 8:45 to 9:45 am. Entombment will be private at Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum.
