John T. L. Bonnell

               John T. L. Bonnell, 78, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023, in his home surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Erie, he was the son of the late Lorna (Faulhaber) and LeRoy J. Bonnell.  He was the loving husband of Alice M. (Cunningham) Bonnell and together they shared 51 years of marriage.  He graduated from Cathedral Preparatory School and continued his education at Gannon University, where he received his bachelor’s degree and was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.  John proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war.  He worked for the United States Air Force in Civilian Personnel Service for 25 years before retiring in 2000.  While working, John and his family lived in Italy for 5 years and Germany for 6 years.  He loved to travel, especially on cruises, he has been on over 40 cruises around the world and visited 48 of the 50 states.  John was a member of the Church of Saint Benedict and a member of their Prime Timers Club where he coordinated tours and activities for them.  Also, he initiated the first parish website.  He was a die-hard Penn State fan, held season tickets for years, and while living in Virginia he would drive to Pennsylvania for every home game.  John was an avid bowler for over 50 years and was in many leagues during that time.

               In addition to his wife, Alice, John is survived by his sons; Matthew Bonnell, husband of Kris, Brian Bonnell, husband of Nancy, and Kevin Bonnell, husband of Abbey.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, Benjamin, Luke, Olivia, Brandon, David, and Vivian, and his siblings, Paul Douglas Bonnell, husband of Susan, and Barbara Sundberg, wife of Keith.

               A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 11:00am in the Church of Saint Benedict, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, PA 19540.  Monsignor Edward R. Domin to celebrate.  The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 9:30am to 10:45am in the Church of Saint Benedict.  Following the Mass, Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Navy.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Mr. John T. L. Bonnell to the Church of Saint Benedict, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, PA 19540.  Bean Funeral Homes, Exeter Township is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com.
