Josephine M. Zawislak

Josephine Zawislak passed peacefully on January 24 and was reunited with her beloved husband Edward with whom she shared 69 years.

Josephine was born in Reading on July 16, 1930, the daughter of James and Susan (Lutz) Orrs. She was predeceased by her siblings Lillian, Charles, Alice, Irma, James, Susan and David.

Josephine worked for many years at Pomeroy’s in Reading before moving to the Berkshire Mall and finishing her career at BonTon.

Josephine was active in the Mothers’ Club of St. Anthony’s Parish in Millmont and volunteered for many parish events. She loved traveling with Edward and enjoyed many trips especially with close friends John and Tosie Kosmoski. She also spent many fun vacations with family in Ocean City, MD and Bethany Beach, DE.

Josephine is survived by her daughters Susan (Gregory) Stout, Christine (Daniel) Wilhelm and Teresa (Robert) Grdina. She was the loving grandmother of Erika (Paul), Tara (Joshua), Jason (Sheri), Megan (Patrick), Zachary, Sarah (Raymond), Seth, Edward (Lindsey), and Katherine and great grandmother to Nicholas (Amanda), Thomas (Zazni), Kayla, Jacob, Ella, Claire, Alyssa, Julia, Oliver and Max

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Residential Hospice, especially Lisa, for their thoughtful care.

Funeral procession will depart Bean Funeral Home 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church Kerrick & Mitti Roads, Shillington at 10:00 am. Reverend Edward J. Essig, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home Tuesday from 8:30 am to 9:15 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church 42 Kerrick Road, Shillington, PA 19607 or a charity of choice in memory of Mrs. Josephine Zawislak.
